Like every other institute of learning, the University of Bristol has to provide world class educational facilities, but also find new revenue streams. One such area is the provision of commercial conference space. This of course brings an extra pressure in the quality of the space provided to fee paying delegates.
The atmosphere of the large open atrium was dependent on controlling the level of reverberation, without compromising on the architectural finish. Adding sound absorption within educational spaces can make all the difference to the learning environment. Absorption will lessen the echo and reverberation within areas and improve speech intelligibility and overall clarity.
Working closely with the Main Contractors Site Team, Architect and Client, we were involved in the specification for the new Atrium Feature Wall, along with all complex detailing, including expansion joints, louvres and display cabinets.
